Piling works update

Recent testing of piling methods in zones Q, U, V, X and W has resulted in the decision to use the impact installation method.

While the noise generated by this work is within required legal tolerance levels, we appreciate that the tapping sound from the piling rigs is of concern to the local community.

We are continuously monitoring the noise levels using a mixture of fixed and mobile receptors and using mitigation measures to minimise sound levels as far as possible. Mitigation measures include shrouding the pile head unit and installation of acoustic fencing barriers.

An independent noise expert is working with our team to ensure compliance with the requirements set out in the Development Consent Order (DCO) for the solar park.

In addition, we are striving to complete the piling in these key zones as quickly as possible through planned phased works, using multiple rigs.

Weather conditions permitting, we anticipate that piling work in these areas will be completed by 7 October.
